JW Leaghn – Official Bio
JW Leaghn (pronounced Lane) is a Southern-born singer-songwriter whose weathered voice and lived-in lyrics cut straight to the heart of the American experience. A disabled U.S. Air Force veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Leaghn channels decades of grit, faith, and healing into songs that blur the line between blues, country, and Southern Gothic Americana.
Performing under the nickname “J Dub,” he draws from the hills of the Ozarks where he now lives with his wife Lainey, crafting original songs that reflect loss, redemption, and the stubborn beauty of survival. His stories — steeped in old-school soul, rural truth, and a veteran’s honesty — connect deeply with audiences who’ve walked their own hard roads.
While stationed in Japan in the mid-1990s, Leaghn performed extensively and shared stages with Billy Joe Shaver, Eddie Money, and Pirates of the Mississippi, experiences that shaped his deep respect for songwriting as a form of truth-telling and connection.
Now based in the Ozarks, he records and performs under his independent imprint, Last Mile Records, often appearing as a duo with pianist and producer Scott Flesher. Together they build immersive performances that blend storytelling, groove, and Southern grace.
“I write songs about the things most folks would bury,” Leaghn says. “But truth deserves a melody.”
